Meet Sarah

Your name is Sarah. You graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree this past April from the University of British Columbia, and are ready to enter the classroom, as a certified teacher. Luckily, you have landed a one year contract at a well regarded elementary school, one whose staff and administration seem to believe in the potential of educational technology to enhance and even transform student learning. You have heard that a few teachers at this school use digital games in the classroom, and you are curious how this is done, and what benefits it may have for students. You have decided to explore using digital games in your classroom as well, but aren’t sure where to start, so you have booked a meeting with the district’s educational technology specialist, Anne.
[[Your meeting is about to begin.]]
Meeting Anne

Do you want to:
Check out Aaron’s [[Grade 1 classroom]], where he uses Squiggle Park to help his students learn letters and words.
Take a walk to Steve's [[Grade 6 classroom]], where some students have been using Surviv.io to explore skills like teamwork, and curricular skills like graphing and statistics?
Head to Mina's [[Grade 3 classroom]], where her students have been building their own video games using Bloxel.

Meeting Mina

You and Anne start to meander around the classroom. Students are clumped together in different areas of the room. Some students look like they are working together, while others are working independently. When you look over one student’s shoulder, it looks like they are just playing a pixelated side scrolling video game. It’s reminiscent of Super Mario Bros, with the little character walking, jumping and collecting coins.

[[You decide to observe some more]]
Mina's Classroom

You walk over to another group of students. This time, it looks like they are on some sort of editor screen. You decide to start up a conversation with one of the students.
