The Ancients are the original notated philosophical thinkers. We are going to think about Confucius, Plato, and Aristotle, specifically.
The dark ages were just that—a time of plague, famine and war. Eventually as the population began to rebound, some profound thinkers—such as Aquinas and Calvin—emerged.
From the start of the Enlightenment, these philosophers based their thinking on scientific understanding. We discuss Descartes, Locke, Jefferson, Rousseau, Pestalozzi, Froebel, and Montessori.
In the Late Modern Age, we cover a variety of philosophers who are commonly concerned with equality and justice in society, and some who are focussed on efficiency. We think about Wollstonecraft, Marx, and Dewey.
This last Age is comprised of a variety of philosophers who have affected the understanding and development of education in a significant way. We discuss Gandhi, Freire, Foucault, and Noddings.
