Informal Classification of Plants in a Lawn

The study of ecology does not need to be exotic or wild. For example, say you found some interesting pattern in the lawn of your backyard. You do not need to know what plant species comprise your lawn community, so long as you can discriminate among the constituent parts. In the above example, the focus of your research could be the yellow flowers in your lawn or a comparison between the forbs and grasses. Again, you could also study the attributes of a single species.
