Backyard Birds: Varieties of Classifications

There are a variety of ways that birds can be classified. If you can identify individual species, that’s great. If not, you can use other indicators to group types of birds. In the first example below, for instance, birds have been classified first by size and then by where they predominantly spend their time. The second example, takes the same group of birds and categorizes them first by what they eat and then by where they eat. Click on each image to view them full-size.
